AWS x1.32xlarge EC2 instance - 64 CPU cores, 2 TB memory

AWS now have new EC2 instance type x1.32xlarge:

  • 128 vCPUs
  • 349 ECU 
  • 1952 GB
  • 2 x 1920 SSD
  • $13.338 per Hour

This EC2 instances is faster than 99% of physical servers, hence performance is not a reason why an application could not be moved to cloud. Only catch this x1.32large instance is very expensive at US$13.338/hr, that equate to $US116,840.88/year or US$584,204.4/5-year which is AU$778,939.20/5-years.

AWS x1.32xlarge EC2 instance is based on 4 x Intel Xeon E7-8880 CPU  (64 CPU cores, 128 threads in total) similar to Dell R930:
