Quality of life

I had a very simple question...Is life now better or worse than during the time my parents were born? My parents were born in the former Yugoslavia just before World War II and would argue that quality of life is generally now much better.
Life during World War II:
In Yugoslavia 11% of of the population died during during World War II:

Over the last eighty years life is much better with reduced poverty, greater democracy, better education and literacy, more leisure time, better health/medicine and significantly increased life expectancy, unprecedented peace of modern times:

Better medical significantly helped to increase life expectancy:

Undernourishment has decreased significantly. Food prices started to fall with the onset of modernity, making food available for larger and larger parts of society:

We are now living in the long peace, an unprecedented historical period following the end of World War II:

The world has many challenges today, yet we we have overwhelming evidence that globally the quality of life is better now and we should be counting our blessings today.
