Comma.ai OpenPilot - Self Driving 100 Miles Hands Free

Amazing (mostly) open source tech from tiny startup comma.ai led by George Hotz, only uses a single forward-facing camera and accesses the cars sensors:
OpenPilot is supported on many cars and uses a smartphone with OpenPilot app for autonomous driving:
Panda is a small device that plugs into your OBDII port, not unlike many generic ones available... However the Panda enables you to read all messages on the cars canbus. Interpreting these signals is the key to unlocking a basic self driving car, knowing each input done physically by the driver in code enables it to be replicated. The Panda has sensors to read, 3x CAN, 2x LIN, 1x GMLAN, Computer Side USB with fast charging for your phone and Wifi:

I love the tech, yet an electric, high tech Tesla Model 3 with many cameras/sensors and auto updating software seems much better value. Best new car  for OpenPilot is Toyota Corolla at $25K and say $1K for OpenPilot then total price is $26K. Tesla Model 3 is $38,990 and you get $4,375 government incentives so total price is $34,535 and never have to buy petrol again. Suddenly the Tesla looks cheap.

Hope one of the the big car companies buy comma.ai.
