Docking gadgets to turn smartphone into a desktop/laptop

Four years after crowdfunding project of Ubuntu Edge we are now almost certainly going to have a smartphone to be a the next computer. Why have a desktop and a smartphone when the smartphone can be a single device that can do everything....no need to fragment data to several devices, it is very convenient to use a single device that has all of our files and today's smartphones have huge power so the whole idea just makes sense.

Ubuntu Edge started the whole concept yet it was underfunded and unfortunately never made it, then Microsoft tried the same with Continuum....unfortunately Microsoft was seen as uncool and even though the idea made lots of sense Microsoft could not sell their solution to consumers:

Now we have the Samsung Galaxy and their DeX solution (I finally bought one on the weekend) which turns a Samsung Galaxy into a full desktop computer like the Ubuntu Edge/Microsoft Contiuum:

Samsung DeX paired with bluetooth keyboard is great solution for portable computing:
Samsung even have a patent to turn a "dumb laptop" without CPU/memory/storage into a full laptop using a smartphone:
Not to be outdone Apple also filed a patent with almost the same idea (??!):
Why does this make sense? It is not about cost...it is all about convince. You could always carry your real computer with you wherever you go, all your files/data/applications are with you at all times. You would be able to use your smartphone as a smartphone as usual or as a fully fledged desktop with easy to use interface for content creators, that offers far more productivity than a smartphone.

I can't wait....
